Velvety and aromatic with rich concentrated fruit and easy integrated tannins.
Called Hannibal because the grapes cross the Alpes, just as the Carthage general did to kick the Romans where they didn't want kicked. Peter Finlayson's dad was from Inverness & went to work in Cape Town (a medic). Peter fell into wine when a baby, and just like Asterix, took on super-powers, in Peter's case, how to make stunning wines.
Extraordinary wine. The colour is marvellously crimson and bright. The composition represents Sangiovese (chianti grape) at 33% while the Pinot noir (burgundy grape) portion is 22%. The remainder is a mix of 18% Shiraz, 17% Nebbiolo (barolo grape), 4% Barbera (N Italy) and 6% Mouvedre (chateau-neuf-de pape grape). Very, very interesting as Inspector Cluseau used to say.
