DOMAINE DES TOURELLES FUNDRAISER – SOLD OUT

£30.00

30th October, 6.30pm-9.30pm, George Heriot’s Rugby Club, Inverleith Row

As many of you know, last year, Clare was lucky enough to be taken to visit Domaine des Tourelles in Lebanon.

As I’m sure you have seen in the news there are now over 1.2 million displaced people in the country. There is limited power and any normal semblance of life is impossible.

We have been buying wines from Domaine des Tourelles now for many years and have done quite a few events with Faouzi Issa (the wine maker) over that time. We consider him a friend.

The winery employs 85 people (who are often the sole breadwinners) and feeds another 450 people a week, something which they currently cannot do. Last week a bomb exploded less than 3 miles from the winery. It is simply too dangerous for anyone to be there.

On Wednesday 30th October we will be hosting a tasting of Lebanese food and wine. Faouzi will join us via a live video link to talk us through his wines.

Sarah Mauritzen and myself will do our best to recreate some of the amazing dishes we tried while we were there. As well as holding a raffle, we will also be taking orders, the proceeds of which will all go to directly to helping the employees, friends and family of Domaine des Tourelles and their wider community.

We’d like to do what we can to help the people who were so welcoming to us in 2023.

Faouzis’ sister works for ‘Maison de la Vierge’ and the goal of the association is to help the most deprived families monthly with food, medication, electricity bills and hospitalisation. They are committed to supporting 600 families a month and work hard every day to continue this vital support. Funding is too difficult these days and the association is overwhelmed and overloaded with the current situation.

Your generous support can:

Provide emergency food aid for the families struggling to put meals on their table

Deliver essential medicines to the people that cant access the hospitals and clinics

Provide heat to those families that cant afford to heat their houses
